Variable Question

When I've got a contact sheet open, I can see the current photo number and the total number of photos in the sheet at the bottom. Is there a way to generate this through variables or such? I've got a few use cases in mind for it but sadly haven't been able to work it out.

Some of them are for the text exporter function to key into some data counting files I've got setup, but I'd also like to have it underneath each image for the the easy ability to see that as well.

Set the sequence variable to 1, and then apply the Metadata Template with the Sequence variable in some metadata field that you don't use, and then use the variable for that field in a label below your images on the Contact Sheet.
