Photos will not ingest

I have been running my Mac mini from a bootable external drive(serving in essence as my computer). The memory was full on that drive so I transferred all programs to a new external bootable drive. Since this time whenever I try to ingest on either drive I get the following error message

Destination path is read only:'/20251008/'
and it will not ingest

it also says ingest complete.(2 errors) in the bottom left window

Can anyone help?

I am able to ingest using Lightroom
