meta data disapears
« on: October 11, 2025, 11:01:24 PM »
Hi, maybe I do things the wrong way or its a bug. I ingest all photos from my sd card to a folder on my mac, then I tagg all files I want to keep. After that I go through all tagged images and add "persons in image" to each photo in my meta data. After that I select all photos and copy them to a new folder that I later import into lightroom. The issue is that after I have copied the files all meta data I added in "persons in image" is gone. Why is that?

Hi, are you shooting in RAW or JPEG format? When copying the files, are you doing that within PM or doing it in the Finder?

Its only RAW and the copying is made from within PM

Hi, to see 'person shown' in LR, you need to select IPTC extension from the dropdown

Yes but the information is not there anymore in the xmp file, it disapears when copying to another folder using PM

Are you applying metadata when copying the files?

Hi, if you're adding metadata when copying your images and have the person shown ticked but the field is empty, it will remove the person shown. Either untick the 'person shown' field or make sure the plus field is also ticked.

The second checkbox causes the new information to be appended.  Without it checked, any existing information will be replaced.
