Renaming dot acr sidecar files
« on: October 31, 2025, 09:39:17 AM »
New in Lightroom October 2025 are dot acr sidecar files which store masks and such from the Develop module (AFAIK!).

My Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 7285 doesn't rename the acr file. My usual workflow sees all my raw (RAF), JPEG and XMP files renamed when using PM. A quick test shows the acr file retain its original name while the others are renamed as usual.

Is this 'fixed' in the latest version of PM. IOW, is it time for me to upgrade to subscription?

Thanks!

ACR files have been around for a while.

Please take a look at the 'Manage File Associations' section of this document to have Photo Mechanic associate your image with the Adobe sidecar file:

https://docs.camerabits.com/support/solutions/articles/48001252592-files-preferences

Note that this is the document for Photo Mechanic 6, so this option is available in your version of Photo Mechanic.

Brilliant! Thank you that has worked.

PM always amazes me when find something I need is already available!

Thanks again.
