So if I'm having problems with my Chevy, you're saying if I switch to a Ford, my problems will be solved? 
Was a little bit offtopic. Macs these days punch a lot of power, at cheaper prices that windows laptops. But for 'fun' try it on a friends mac, maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised (even the PM is not really compatible with the new M architecture)
I though that you ingest/copy directly from PM, not editing from card. CB said a lot of times that working on the actual card is not recommended. Of course that copying/culling/deleting is not a straight routine, but at least, in your current situation, it will save you some time. And if you got enough space on hard drive, you can leave deleting part for later, just focus on those rated/starred files that need fast delivery.
I can't do anything to the card until PM populates the contact sheet. That's where the stall is. I'm not going to ingest 5,000 images directly from the card, when I only need 5 or 6 images within a 5 minute window. I open the contact sheet, choose the few I want, slide them into LR, do my edits, and then fire them off to the Social Media team. But PM completely stalls the second I insert it into a drive and it tries to update with additional photos. For over 5 minutes, there's nothing I can do while PM is sorting and populating. It never used to have this problem. Watch the video.
I'm going to close this thread now, as the Camera Bits technical team is working on the problem, and they have all the facts after a great one hour phone call and screenshare with their team.
