File/Export stopped working

I understand version 6 (specifically 6.0.0.7285) may not be supported anymore, but something strange cropped up very recently and I'm wondering if anyone else has the issue. I'm using Windows 11 on about a year-old PC with good specs.
When I select a number (large or small) of images and go to do a text export PM basically freezes up. I can make changes in the Exporter dialog box, but Export does nothing, nor do the Close or Cancel buttons. I have to go to Task Manager (I'm on PC) and kill PM.

As far as I can tell, everything else is working normally. Anyone have any idea what's up?

Also I uninstalled, downloaded the .msi, and re-installed but no change.

And I installed PM5, and still the same problem. Weird.


(I also posted to the FB group, but I don't know how active that is and I have a feeling this is the more official spot.)

Thanks for any advice -- I really need this function to work for my job!

No problems for me with the Text Exporter even using Photo Mechanic 5 on Windows 11. As mentioned on your Facebook post, the log file may have some useful information. You can find it by going to Help -> Reveal Support Data.

Just to clarify, do you ever see the window to pick the destination for the export, or does this freeze up happen before that?

Based on the messages in the log file and your description it sounds like the file picker window is opening somewhere off screen, at which point the rest of the interface is waiting for the response from that window. If you hover over the Photo Mechanic icon in the Windows task bar after clicking "Export" the first time do you see the file picker window and can you bring it forward?

Thanks!  That was the key. For some reason the picker window was showing up offscreen on my second monitor. When I changed the resolution on my 2nd monitor I could finally see it but couldn't resize or move it for a while. Eventually I got it down to a size (using monitor resolution) where I could at least complete the export.
Then the next time I found the option in the right-click menu to "restore" (which I hadn't seen before) and that resized it to a normal size and put it on top of the main PM window. Seems like it's behaving now.
