Logging: FTP Files Renamed During Xmit
« on: Yesterday at 09:56:29 AM »
Question:
Can PM log the before/after filenames when an FTP snapshot renames the files during transmit?

Use Case:
1. In-camera JPGs are sent by photographers to a remote editing desk.
2. Selects are cropped, captioned, keyworded and transmitted to the wire via PM FTP snapshot.
3. The snapshot renames the file via: {todayyear4}{todaymonth0}{todayday0}_{cwrt}_rwe_{seqn}
4. Example: ABC1234.jpg becomes 2026-02-10_qrs_rwe_3267.jpg.

Business Case: I need a quickly-accessible cross-reference between the original & post-transmission file names for sets of 300-500 photos.

Things I've Tried & Constraints:
1. I can't write the original {fbas} to an empty IPTC field and use that variable in a File | Export operation.  The outlet locks-down non-essential fields to protect their production environment.

2. I can't add the original {fbas} to the file renaming string.  This would break the outlet's file naming convention.

3. I tried enabling RENAME_STRING_LOGGING in PMDebug.  When I checked PM.log for the output, it doesn't yield what I'm looking for.

Is there a way to do this with existing PM functionality?

PM 2026.1 build 9024
Windows 11 Pro 25H2 build 26200.7840

Thanks, Rob
