Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 7285 (fb3e520)

I use Flickr Pro to host all my sports images and albums and then use an API to display them on my website. A little while ago, I had an issue with my Flickr account acting weird in Photo Mechanic and I decided to try to remove it and reconfigure it. It then would not let me verify my Flickr account.

Interestingly, when I downloaded the Photo Mechanic (new) demo from the website, I was able to add my Flickr account and verify it. I then went back to Photo Mechanic 6 and the Flickr account appeared there as well and I was able to use it, with one exception, I can't create albums in Photo Mechanic 6.

Is there a work-around for this by any any chance? I get that you moved on to your subscription-based software, but it kind of sucks that I can't use the software I paid for anymore :(

Thanks for your help.

Hi Kirk,

I did, but since it is related to Photo Mechanic 6, they refused to help. Was trying to see if anyone else found a work-around possibly.

Who refused to help?  We still help people with PM6 and even PM5.

They did reply and maybe not so much as "refused to help" as said there is nothing that can be done except for me to upgrade. Was hoping there was some work-around that some clever people thought of.

Hi (Name),

Unfortunately Flickr made some changes to how accounts get authorized, and the way that it was done in Photo Mechanic 6 no longer works. Development on Photo Mechanic 6 ended in June of 2025, and as services that it connected to see updates, certain functions of the application may eventually stop working correctly. The issue is already corrected in the new version of Photo Mechanic, so the solution is going to be to upgrade. To get a discount on upgrading, you can go to the 'Help' menu in Photo Mechanic 6 and click "Choose Upgrade options".

Best regards,

Andrew H.,  Senior Manager of Technical Support

Unfortunately, to make PM6 work with Flickr's new system would require updating PM6 itself which as you know has ended production.  I asked the developer that made PM 2025+ work with Flickr's new system if there were some way to use the new upload template with the old PM6 and there is no way to do that.

We will help any customer with a problem (that doesn't require updating software that is no longer under development/production).
