Subscription Trial Questions
« on: March 05, 2026, 12:12:26 PM »
I'm a long time PM6 user and on Feb 27th I decided to try a trial subscription version of Photo Mechanic which expires on March 28th. In other trial software I've used it usually reminds you that you are using a trial version and gives you the option to buy the software but this isn't how the PM subscription trial seems to work. No where does it mention I'm using a trial version. When I click on Help and then on License it only gives me the option to deactivate the license. I'd like to buy the annual subscription and use the discount code to save $50 for upgrading from PM6 when the trial period is up on March 28th. I'm not sure how to do this and switch from the trial license to the subscription license. When I started using the trial version when PM started it had me enter the trial license in the program. After I buy the annual subscription I'm assuming they'll give me another license key but I have no idea how to enter it or see where to enter it. When I start the program it just starts up normally with out giving me an option to enter a subscription license.  Also next week I'm getting a new M5 MacBook Pro and want to run PM on both the iMac I'm using now and on the MacBook, where do I go to download PM so I can install it on my new MacBook.

Thanks

When you start up Photo Mechanic and it is using a trial license it alerts you to how many days are left in your trial. Are you sure that you are actually quitting the program and not just closing its windows?

The dialog that presents this information also gives you the option to click 'Activate' and enter your purchased license key.

The 'About Photo Mechanic' dialog from the Photo Mechanic menu should also tell you when you trial expires.

Once your trial ends you'll also be asked if you have a key to enter.

The same way you downloaded it initially, using the link in the email you got with your trial or purchased key. Or from www.camerabits.com/downloads

Yes I'm quiting Photo Mechanic when I open it up again it goes right to the last Contact sheet I had open, when I click on About it says nothing about a trial license and I never see anything about days left. I've never seen a trial that works like this before, usually the startup screen will popup and ask if you want to Buy the software and tell you the days left, My PM software doesn't do any of that, it's acting like I have a license copy even though I don't, when I go to the Fastspring license page it gives me an expiration date but nothing in Photo Mechanic says I have a trial copy at all and as I stated if I click on Help and then License the only option it gives me is to deactivate, nowhere in the program is it giving me the option to buy the subscription before the trial expires, that's why a posted my question.
