Problem Statement:
The Snapshot tool in Edit | Find/Replace does not save a double space as the “Find” criteria, nor a single space as the “Replace” criteria. When recalling the snapshot both fields are empty, though all other user-selected aspects of the snapshot are present (which fields to search, case sensitivity, etc.) It's as if the PM save snapshot function is treating solitary spaces, or groups of spaces, as nulls rather than as characters.
Use Case:
1. Select-All on images in a Contact Sheet.
2. Edit | Find/Replace & select pre-saved snapshot to replace all instances of errant double spaces to single spaces in the Description/Caption field. Fixing them manually is time-consuming and prone to human error, especially considering how compact the D/C field width continues to be in the UI (I thought I heard a while back that this was going to be addressed).
Things I Tried:
1. Manually typing double + single spaces in “Find” and “Replace” fields, respectively, and clicking the 'Replace' button does work as intended for the selected images. However, this must be repeated every time the function is run on a new set, or if other F/R criteria is used in between.
2. The snapshot tool does allow double spaces in the "Find" field if there is at least one leading or trailing character. For example, I can save, recall and execute a F/R snapshot looking for instances of " a" (space-space-letter "a").
A copy of my snapshot file is attached for reference.
