Date possible bug!!
« on: April 04, 2026, 08:39:04 AM »
I'm camera scanning with a Nikon D850, I'm altering the dates to the dates when the negatives were actually taken after I've ingested the photos and then for some reason it reverts back to the date scanned and I can't understand why, also there must be a workaround, the date information I've inputted is still associated with the image because if I delete the exit data it reverts back to how I intended so I'm confused to what's going on, and it seems to be a recent issue that's come along with an update.

Photo Mechanic version 2026.2, build 9034 (cae4923)
Mac OS 13.7.8

Hi, how are you changing the date in PM? Are you using the 'Adjust Capture Date and Times' in PM? I've been using PM to change the capture times for the negatives I've been camera scanning, and it works without any issues. I've attached a screenshot of the settings I use.

Thankyou, no I've been using the Metadata Template which for me i think would be preferable, I will test your solution.

Your solution certainly works, I thought I might be in the same situation.

If I delete the Exif data the date goes back to the date which I altered it to I can see it stored in the XMP Info.

Where do we find the "Adjust date & time" feature in PM+?
I have been encountering a related issue, when I need to change a filename: When I change part of the name, I get both images superimposed, but straining, I can ,ake my way though and the filename changes as I desire, butthat did not use to happen.  Sometimes, when double clicking the filename, I erase part of it (backspacing) and type the changed characters, which do not appear, though the cursor moves to the right, then, when double clicking to set the name, those new character appear as the should.  Think there is something not working here, as neither anomaly happened a few months back.

Not sure all 4 screenshots got sent.  Let me know if not

Jon Paul,

Where do we find the "Adjust date & time" feature in PM+?

On the Tools menu.

This is likely due to incompatibility with the PM6-based Photo Mechanic Plus version you're using and upgrading to macOS Tahoe.  The Photo Mechanic 2026 edition addresses this issue.  You didn't say what version/build of Photo Mechanic Plus that you're using or what macOS version you're running, so I'm just guessing based on your description of the issue.

No, only one.

Thanks, Kirk.  I will make sure my version of PM+ is updated. I am running Tahoe OS (26.4) & PM+"Version 6.0, build 7285 (fb3e520)"

Runner,

This sounds like a known cosmetic bug in Photo Mechanic 2026.2 Build 9034 that is in our bug tracker.

The issue does not occur in 2025.10 build 8858, which can be downloaded from: https://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=17004.0

Just to update this thread, a fix will be in the next build. We've also released a beta that contains this fix and other improvements:

Thankyou, Custom keyboard shortcuts for the Metadata Info dialog looks interesting I'll be checking that out.
