window placements
« on: April 13, 2026, 03:58:09 AM »
Hope all is well.

Is there a reason why upload, as an example, has to open up in a new window?

Could it be pinned on the left, for example, on contact sheet.

So people can choose what tools is needed and where.

So you have ingest, upload, iptc tools always accessible and you can change it there.

Thanks.

Modal windows cannot be interacted with in the manner you desire.  They would have to made non-modal first and then they could be integrated in the fashion you describe.  It would be a significant effort to make this change and deal with the dynamics of what the user can change spontaneously while interacting with those features non-modally.

Thanks.

But is it possible, as formerly requested, to just get the information from the modal windows? So instead of being able to change anything we can see what snapshot is being used etc. like Info text. Or is that connected to the problem with assigning a shortcut to snapshot which I know you are working on....

THanks.

Not connected.

I'm not sure what former request you're referring to (I can't keep all of the requests in my head) so please link previous posts or provide more context.

Some sort of list of all of the last snapshots loaded in each feature that offers a snapshot?  If it were a variable, you could see it in the Info Text of the Preview window, or on tooltips/context menus in the Contact Sheet since they show the Info Text.

Anyway to see it. if variable is updated with current settings. NIce.

I just finished a game right now.

I have 2 customers. As I dont know which upload snapshot is chosen right now I have to go and check it before sending. If I knew it and there was a shortcut for uploading with curren settings (and not like the current one where its the last setting and it often will go and check it) then I could be a lot faster.

That would be better than now before we maybe one day, can upload to a specific snapshot via shortcut.

Thank and enjoy the weekend.

The main problem is for us who has more than one client. The snapshot with local IPTC was a game changer and why im on the new subscription. It saves me as I dont make a mistake during the heat of the game. Amazing.

But nexst stop is making it even quicker. This is for sending during the game where there are two issues: quick upload while also minimizing the time away from the game. Thats why people with editors destroy people like me.

What takes the longest time now is getting files from the camera to the computer, cropping and then uploading. The first two is difficult to improve on but uploading there are still opportunities.
Gold level: shortcut to snapshot. Where ever I am I push command a (for example) and it is send to customer a with the local IPTC template added to it etc.
Silver level: where I at least know which snapshot is chose now and I can upload with it. Now i need to end upload by choosing the right one for next time.

THanks.

It will also help if, for example, inside the upload window there is a shortcut for choosing a snapshot as we can then use another programme to make a shortcut that does it all. I dont know if that helps. So its a local shortcut.

Automator software seems (the ones I have tried) to have big problems with dropdown menus (cant be trusted and is rather slow).
