Hello, new user in the forums (but not to PM) and have searched but don't see an answer to my question so I'm hoping someone can help out!

I'd like to identify images in the contact sheet which do not have any GPS data - is this easy to do? I've tried using variables to sort the images but I'm obviously not using them correctly as my efforts aren't working. I was thinking I could sort images according to either the latitude or longitude values and then any images without GPS data would rise to the top or fall to the bottom of the sort images but haven't been able to make that work.

Any suggestions gratefully received! I'm using Photo Mechanic version 2026.6, build 9175 which I upgraded to last night.

Thanks in advance.

Alwyn

That should work, I just tried it. Can you share a screenshot of how you set up the custom sort?

Thanks for the quick reply. It's working so it must have been operator error!  :)

This is how I have set it up (attached file), very simple just using the gps variable. Works great! If there's a better way to do this, I'd be grateful for your advice. Many thanks!

Interesting. That should work. I'd use the Contact Sheet label 1 and label 2 and add "{gps}" and "{latitude}, {longitude}" respectively to see what actual GPS data it is working with. Feel free to post a screenshot of what the Contact Sheet looks like after doing that if the results aren't what you expect.

I added the sort criteria as you suggested and everything looks as expected - images with no gps are showing first and then sorted by co-ordinates where the images have them. Many thank for your help as this is just what I wanted.

I've tried previously to add gps co-ordinates to Photoshop psd files with varying degrees of success but have never pinned down why sometimes it works (from the Set GPS co-ordinates dialog). A search in the forums suggested that psd files are unsupported. That comment was from a number of years ago and I guess it's still the case? I usually set the co-ordinates in my raw files as a post-ingest task before I start the culling process but sometimes it would be nice to be able to add them to psd files in instances where I wasn't able to do that at the time.
