Is the colour class set for images in PM totally separate from the colour class you set for an image in the MAC OS FINDER.  It seems to be separate!

Is there any way to show the finder set colour when browsing images in PM

Yes. It is a value stored in XMP. This is what most image editing applications use (Lightroom, Bridge, Capture One)

Only on folders shown in the Navigator. Not on images.
