Colors & star not reading in LR Classic - for hours if at all

PM 6 - 7285 - Lightroom classic 15.5

This started about 2 weeks ago- Colors & stars are not going back and forth consistently. XMP are writing. I just Color coded blue (#4) 11 images in PM and ingested to LR. NO color is showing in LR but an added star in LR shows in PM Changing color in LR NO effect!!! VERY inconsistent - sometimes shows up LATER. (used to be instant) images on a Win 11 PC, M.2 drive. Any ideas. I've attached my PM settings

Edit - The 1 image I'm testing (changing) may update the other 10 are still not showing color in LR!

I just added IPTC Data to those ame images - in a normal amount of time I saw the "error" in LR that the data had been change in another program. I selected all & Import setting from disk. This brought in the Caption BUT not the color

XMP are writing

Can you be more specific? Are you opening the XMP file in a text editor to verify that Photo Mechanic is making changes? Can you send me a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Attached is the XPM of the first file, The screenshot of the PM & LR window of the files and a screenshot of all the XMP's.

I had not opened the XMP but the caption show in LR and the color 'May" change - Now I see photomechanic:ColorClass="4" & the caption in the XMP and the

Hi, this sounds more like an LR issue than a PM one.

Here are some ideas to try in LR,

1.   Optimise the LR catalogue

2.   Check how the LR Library View Options are set.

3.   Check that when you're importing to LR, you're not writing metadata to the files on import.

4.    Check that the colour name matches between PM and LR

Thanks for the help - Yes I think it's a LR issue but I was hoping someone here had an easy fix.

1. Optimised - No help

2.  Library view options - I don't see any problem but screen shot attached

3. nothing added during import

4. Color name works - when read! LR is just not paying attention to it.

So annoying - I've was working in LR & just before I finished the color codes showed up - Yes!!! I was having a PS issue so I wanted to reboot ( old tech support cure) - When I reopened LR the color codes were gone again  - I'm so lost. I'm assuming adobe broke it and may fix it at some point!

Are you sure that your label names in Photo Mechanic and Lightroom are *exactly* the same, including the case?

These labels are case-sensitive. When I change a label of "Blue" written in Photo Mechanic to "blue", and then ask Lightroom to read the metadata from the disk, the color label box in Lightroom turns white, indicating that it doesn't recognize the color label.

I have no idea how this could be working in one direction and not the other, or why it could take hours. I'd have to guess that the issues lies with the Lightroom catalog and you should create a new one as a test to see if the same issue occurs, but that is about as much advice as I can give for that.

Hi, have you tried right-clicking the folder and selecting 'Synchronising Folder'? That updates the metadata

Thank you for all your help - It looks like the PM color class preference was changed from PM 6 Default - to adobe -  I don't know how but I set it to PM6 and it works now -

I noticed one of them had a capital first letter not matching the rest lower case first letters
