v4.5.1.1, ingest problems

Hi Kirk,

When I ingest the contact sheet does not open even though it is set to.

Also not all the files seems to be viewable unless I quit and reload the contact sheet.

Both are pretty strange behaviour compared to normal which is fast opening of the contact sheet and super fast loading of images.

Only change I think is that the images are coming from a Canon 1Ds MK I.

That's odd.  Ingest is working fine for me.  Have you tried 4.5.2 RC1?

What I'm also finding is that I have to Rescan Contact Sheet to get new photos to show?

Its as if the Contact Sheet is not updating automatically, is there a pref I've turned off?

I think I found the problem... Deleted all .pmarrangement.dat files and now Contact Sheet updates automatically.

I'll try an Ingest and let you know if it works properly again.

Were you in Arrangement sort mode at the time?

No, I never use it...Mostly by file names. Some times when I drag files to other folders I think it kicks in.

When I searched for them there were about 20 of these files.

Just tried an Ingest, files show up OK now but Contact Sheet does not open during Ingest like it used to.

20 of them in various places?

Do any messages show up in the console log (you can view the console log by opening up the Console application in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder) that pertain to Photo Mechanic?

In various folders, probably made when I move photos to different folders I have trouble selecting and dragging and PM thinks I'm trying to rearrange the photos I think.

I'll keep an eye on the console log.

PS PM used to make a sound after an Ingest has finished has this changed lately?

Sorry for your time.

When an Ingest completes it should still beep.

I'm thinking there must be something wrong with your preferences file.  As a test, quit PM, rename your current preferences file and launch PM again.  Do a test Ingest and see if your contact sheets open and it beeps when done.

You can find your preferences file in the following location:

<your home folder>/Library/Preferences/com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic.plist

I'm interested to know the results.

Looks like pref file is buggered as window now opens during Ingest and beep is back... Now I just need to somehow copy prefs across. Thanks for helping me. If you need the pref file emailed let me know.

PS What's the best way to keep the camera data from getting eaten up by Photoshop CS3
