Wait, how can you be ingesting 2 or more cards and not use Ingest?

You've got me confused.

No.  I just really don't have an answer for you.  The only way I know of to reset the sequence number is by using the UI to reset it directly.  There is no automatic reset in the application, so I don't have any idea why yours is resetting unless you are reseting it yourself which I am fairly certain that you are not doing.

Well unless you can help me figure out how it is possible for it to spontaneously reset (it would be most helpful if I could reproduce the behavior locally) then I don't know how to solve the problem.

Please tell me how to reproduce the problem and if I can reproduce it then I will fix the problem.  I need a discrete set of steps that can be followed that will cause the problem to occur.

Thanks,

ok here's what i"m doing.

1 ingest 4 cards total of 6.5 gig. i'm not using the renaming in ingest because i want the pictures all in a time order.
2 change order from filename to capture time.
3 select all pictures with command A
4 rename with command M
that is when i see the rename "1650 photos to rename:"
                     1.  MBB4857.JPG will become 0001.JPG
                     2.  MBB4858.JPG will become 0002.JPG
                     ....
                  1650.  MBB6507.JPG will become 1650.JPG
I have the sequence "checked" & it says " {seqn}" in the photo renaming string.

I normally have to hit the "set {seqn} variable..." and change it to the number i want it to start with. right now that number is 520421.
Hope this help. I know the hard part is that it doesn't do it all the time, but has ben doing it more offen lately.
Thanks Marc

Marc,

I normally have to hit the "set {seqn} variable..." and change it to the number i want it to start with. right now that number is 520421.

That's a really large sequence number.  I'll have to check the code to see what its limits are.  Do you notice the resetting only with large numbers?

Thanks for the additional info!
