Apply IPTC to Multiple Images
« on: September 25, 2007, 01:12:20 PM »
I am using the trial version of PM 4.5.2 on Mac 10.4.10.  When I select several pictures, add keywords using the Structured Keywords panel, and then open the IPTC Stationery Pad, add other metadata besides keywords (which I leave blank) and hit "Apply Stationery to Selected," all of the keywords added from the Structured Keywords panel are erased in the images.  Am I restricted to adding keywords only after all other metadata has been added?  If so, this can be frustrating if I need to change the title or caption after I have added keywords, because I will have to redo the keywords after applying the changes to the caption or title.  I am new to using the metadata funtionality of PM, so please advise if I am missing something.  Thanks.

Next to the Keywords field in the IPTC Stationery Pad is a check box for 'append'. If you leave this unchecked any existing keywords will be replaced by the contents of the Keywords field ie erased if it is blank. If you check the box, the contents of the Keywords field will be added to any existing keywords ie if its blank then no change and keywords still intact.

Thanks, Nick!  I saw the little plus sign with a check box under it, but I didn't know what it was for.  That solves my problem.

There is a manual available for download on the Camera Bits site. PM has all sorts of features that are not necessarily obvious at first glance.

I couldn't seem to find the manual on the camerabits website.  Have they hidden it somewhere?

Found it!  And I also see that the manual is written by Nick Rains (the man who suggested I look for it in the first place).  Thanks, Nick.  This looks like an excellent resource.
