multiple numbering of NEF files
« on: June 13, 2008, 02:29:13 PM »
I am using CNX 1.3 and Photomechanic 4.5.3.1. Some of the times when I edit the NEF file inn CNX I get multiple images with alpha added.

original image 1001.NEF
next 1001a.nef
next 1001b.nef

This was also happening when I was using ViewNX.

So what am I doing or not setting up correctly?

OS is Vista SP1.
4GB mem

thanks

The renaming string that you're using isn't producing filenames that are always unique.  What are you using as a renaming string?

I edit the NEF files in Capture NX and simply "save".  I don't rename.  When I am converting to JPG in CNX I do a "save as" then to a sub folder.

Then it is likely that Capture NX is causing the issue since it sounds like Photo Mechanic is not being used in this process.

I need to play with this over the weekend.

My work flow is:

PM to ingest.  View on lighttable.  I right click to edit the image.  CNX opens,  I edit the click save.  Then manage the image from PM.

At what point in this process is the letter 'a' appended to your images?

duh on my part.

I found that if I ingest the files and do not select "only load new ones", PM puts the "a" etc on the image.  I thought I had this set.

Anyway, duh!

thanks,
