New user question: is it possible to ingest without copy
« on: June 26, 2006, 10:54:20 AM »
is it possible to ingest the files and NOT copy them over to the machine where PM resides. I would like to leave the originals on a different machine.
Please advise.
Thanks

You can select a Primary (and Secondary) location for your files...it's 100% your choice where you put the files.  Look at the INGEST window where it says "Destination Folder Roots" and make your selection there.

Like Delane said, you can use the Primary and Secondary destinations to choose where the files are downloaded.  If you want to ingest to another computer's hard drive, then you need to use the folder chooser dialog to pick the folder on the destination computer.  This will of course be slower since it will be writing data through your network connection.
