Password protection for html galleries
« on: July 27, 2008, 02:47:38 PM »
I shoot a lot of things that are propietary, top secret, etc. . . I often post web galleries of images using PM, but when I need to protect a site, I am forced to use iWeb/.Mac/Mobile Me.

Nothing fancy, just a simple username/password to access the page.

Thanks,

John

Why not use a .htaccess file in the directory where you've uploaded your gallery.  They're fairly easy to setup and are very secure.  Anything we would put into the actual HTML pages would be javascript-based and subject to hackers.

A search for '.htaccess' results in a wealth of information about them, including some good tutorials.
