In PM4.5.4: JPEG converted to NEF in NX2 loose orientation
« on: November 22, 2008, 05:41:20 PM »
Kirk,

"JPEGs edited by Nikon Capture NX and saved as NEF now show results of image adjustments instead of original JPEG."

I just updated to version 4.5.4, and even the added feature (upgrade) above works now great  ;D, I noticed that all NEF's created from vertical (portrait) JPEG's loose their orientation :-[. Means the created NEF's are shown in horizontal (landscape) and not vertical (portrait) orientation.

I'm confused.  Are you saying that there is still a problem that needs solving, or not?

Yes, there is still a problem  :-\

A JPEG picture that was taken with the camera in portrait orientation is correctly displayed in portrait orentation in PM. But after this same picture was opened in NX and saved as NEF, the NEF is now displayed in landscape orientation in PM (but should be portrait like the original JPEG).

Hope that's more clear now.

I can't replicate this with either CNX1 or CNX2.  I'm opening a vertical D700 JPG (which shows as vertical in PM) into CNX, then I just make a simple curve adjustment (so its obvious) and then save as NEF.  This NEF shows up in PM as vertical.

Which version of Capture NX are you using?  What is the original JPEG source (e.g. camera model, is it straight from camera or saved from another application like Photoshop)?  What operations are you performing in CNX?
