Save for Web
« on: January 12, 2009, 12:44:16 PM »
Is there a way at present in PM to save a file to a set size for the web, say 100 or 150KB for example? This option is available in Photoshop, but I prefer not having to open CS to do this. If not, will this feature appear in v4.6? Thanks, Richard

Use the Save As dialog.  Adjust the size and quality until you get in the ballpark.  Then save the photos.

Kirk: thanks for the reply. I'm already doing as you suggest, but that doesn't give the intended result of having a file rendered to a specific size. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 attempts to get near the desired size by manipulating the quality slider and pixels. At the low end too, it seems that the quality slider gives very large changes in file sizes between adjacent settings. It would be very convenient to have the ability to resize to a specific size. Thanks, Richard

In 4.6 there are 100 different JPEG Quality values instead of the current eleven.  While that still won't enforce a specific size, you should be able to dial in something reasonably close.  If you need exact size values, you'll need to use something else.
