Hi,

strange problem here: I crop all RAW images using PM and then I export the images to JPEG for iPhoto usage. I noticed that the crop on some JPEGs is displaced. I see a black border at the border of the image (see attachments). I did already a lot of investigation but I'm not able to find out whats wrong/different with these NEFs. Making a different Crop doesn't help, using a different ratio doesn't help

MacOS X 10.5.6, PM 4.6 and 4.6.1b, Nikon D300 NEF, Capture NX 2.

Any hint welcome...thanx. This issue is hurting me a lot because I've to do all my crops in NX 2 now and this is not what I like to do.

Puuh, just right now I found ONE difference in the NEFs.

If a NEF's alignment was adjusted (a little bit rotated) then PM is not able to crop correctly.

Some more input:

If I send it via Email cropping works fine, if I save it to disk (TIF or JPG) the crop is displaced.

This issue has been fixed with version 4.6.1b0328 of Photo Mechanic.

I came looking for answers.. and sure enough I found them.
I have a shot I took yesterday on a D3 camera with a 10.5 fish eye lens... as a raw (NEF). It's a DX lens and the image doesnt cover the whole sensor.  PM did a really rotten job of cropping -- the resulting JPG had acres of black pixels around the tiny resulting crop



This image has been twice through the Save As function... once to get a full rez JPG, then I took that full rez jpg and resaved it to 500 px box for posting here.   Aside from the resolution, the images appear the same.

Anyway, I downoaded and installed the  6.1 public beta 8, and that fixed the problem.
