save as -> custom size does not work correctly
« on: April 16, 2009, 06:41:56 PM »
the original image is 1440 x 1080  Pixels (1.56 MPixels) (4:3)

the output should be: 1024 x 576  Pixels (16:9)

but PM saves an image that is 768 x 576  Pixels (4:3)

I use SAVE AS  and enter the right dimensions in "to custom width": 1024
height: 576

I guess this is a bug...

If we rescaled to your output size exactly you would get some warping of your image.  Save As maintains the aspect ratio of the original image or cropped image aspect ratio.  If you want to save out as a different aspect ratio then draw a 16:9 crop onto your image and then save it.

the latest beta has a bug in the email window, (separate thread) - like this it should work also in save as and ftp - but ADDITIONALY the "normal" "fit to box .. "

What do you mean by "this is a lot circumstantial?"  The ratio of 4:3 is 1.33333333333333, and the ratio of 16:9 is 1.7777777777777...  There would definitely be significant warping of your image unless you set a 16:9 crop on your image first.

to add first a crop frame to each picture

the reason is this, that I have stillimages captures from a video, these are saved in wrong proportions, so the need to be streched!

in irfanview, e.g. I ve to disable this option:

"Preserve aspect ratio"

hello kirk, can you fix / change this behaviour?

I want that PM do just this, what the button says:

custom size - width and height. PM should not think about the ratio, just save the image with the sizes I want.

thanks
