German character "ÜÖÄß"

Hello Camera Bits,

after exporting IPTC data with PM as *.TXT, file shows german character "ÜÖÄß" the way it has to be. Importing the same *.TXT files in Excel i get this:

*.XLS = Jörg
*.TXT = Jörg

Here my settings:
The default IPTC Encoding in PM is set to "Latin1 Western European".

What are the right settings?

Photo Mechanic outputs all textual data in UTF-8 format.  You need to get Excel to interpret the files as UTF-8 if possible.  I don't know if it is possible since I don't use Excel all that often.

You could try this free character set conversion web page to convert UTF-8 into your chosen format:

Bisher keine Probleme damit, Umlaute bleiben Umlaute.

It dos not work.

My excel-version can only import text files as followed:
Macintosh
Widows (ANSI)
MS-DOS (PC-8)

I set meta dates first with Lightroom 3.4.1. When I export the files as jpg with IPTC in UTF-8 (standard encoding in LR), I can not use them in my webgallerie because this read and import only ISO Latin -West..

So my thought was get the step over PM and save them once again in the right encoding. But this seems to work not with a batch, for example add a keyword via Stationary Pad. When I try to type a additional keyword or text manual to a file and save this, it seem to work.

Question: Can I batch many files to save them to my favourite encoding?

Otherwise the german characters ÄÖÜäöüß are wrong...

I don´t understand the kind of saving?! Sometimes it works, sometimes not, although the files all exportet from LR as same...

I received your two images.  The first image (the one that looks good on your web galleries) specifies no encoding.  The second image is encoded with UTF-8 Unicode encoding.

I suspect that your web gallery system does not know how to interpret UTF-8 encoded IPTC metadata.

Can you post a screen shot of your IPTC/XMP Preferences pane?
