4.6.1: {cropwidth} and {cropheight} show wrong dimensions
« on: May 24, 2009, 10:07:32 PM »
Hi,

since beta 8 PM shows the dimensions of the whole image instead of just the croped area.
May you check this, please?

MacOS 10.5.7.

Thx, kind regards

Klaus

Hi,

is anybody out there to confirm that issue?
{cropwidth} and {width} show identical values as well as {cropheight} and {height}.
Of course, there is a crop, I've checked it using {hascrop} (value is '1' on images with crop and '0' on images without crop).

This issue is really a problem because I use cropwidth and cropheight to determine how large a printout can be for orders within my online webshop.

Thx.

We've got a fix in the works.  I'll give you a test version if you're interested.

Hi Kirk,

any update (news) regarding that issue?
I've just installed final 4.6.1 and the problem is still there.

(I've already sent you the requested NEF for further investigation)

Thank you,

Klaus

I believe I've got it fixed now.  Would you like to test?

I just noticed the same issue on my XP Pro SP3 machine with PM 4.6.1.  My JPEG images show the correct crop dimensions using {cropwidth}x{cropheight} but all of my Canon RAWs (CR2s with various cameras) show the full size image dimensions no matter what the actual crop size.

Will this fix work on PCs and Canon RAWs as well?

Regards

Kirk,

Just downloaded your update 4.6.2b - {cropwidth} and {cropheight} now work perfectly with Canon RAW (CR2) and JPG files on my Windows machine.  Thanks for your usual outstanding service.  :)

As an added plus I started displaying {cropwidth} and {cropheight} in my Image Info boxes and I find that the crop variables display the size of the embedded JPG preview in RAW files whenever there is no crop applied to the image.  That is very neat since I can now see the dimensions of the full size image and the embedded preview or any applied crop with ease.  Don't think I could display the size of the embedded preview before.

Thanks again,

Bill Wood

Thought I would show an example of the neat new feature of {cropwidth} and {cropheight} coming in 4.6.2 (I am using a beta version now).  These variables by design or luck (don't know if Kirk intended it that way) now show the size of any embedded preview in RAW images or the size of any applied crop.  I love being able to see the full size image dimensions and seeing whether there is an embedded preview and, if so, its size.  I attached a screen capture of a Canon RAW file Info Box as an example (my first attachment, don't know if it will work, the preview function does not show attachments).  I labeled {cropwidth} and {cropheight} Preview/Crop:
