Slow updates to JPG vs NEF
« on: July 06, 2009, 10:22:22 AM »
When updating iptc info in JPG files it is noticeably slower than when I update NEF files.  Is there a reason for this?

I am using Vista Pro, with 3 GB RAM.  Both JPG and NEF images are on the same drive.

Noticeably slower means what?  A few seconds per file?  More?

Are you using XMP sidecar files and not embedding any metadata on your NEF files?

I can get you actual numbers when I am home.  However, it's few seconds longer per JPG.  I am not using XMP sidecars so i am embedding metadata directly into NEF.

What is the file size of an average JPEG in your case?
Are you working in RAW+JPEG mode?

I can get image sizes to you later today.  I'll attach both a jpg and nef as well for your enjoyment.

I am not working in raw+jpeg mode (my files are in separate folders).
