Snow Leopard ingest problems with Lexar Reader

Nope, only ingest. Resetting PRAM and NVRAM fixed that issue for few days and now its back.

For me:  Yes applying IPTC Stationery Pad. Yes renaming. Only one destination

Mainly JPEG but never RAW+JPEG. Copy in finder is super fast.

Only RAW, applying IPTC pad and renaming. Never 2 locations.

I tried turning off IPTC and renaming and apparently had a slightly better ingest speed, but I shall test it tomorrow.

I made some changes to how files are copied during Ingest.  Please try the 4.6.2.2 beta version available here:

Let me know if it solves the speed issue.  If it doesn't, then I'll need some volunteers to run logging versions of PM to find out if the speed issue originates on reading from the card/reader or if the problem is with writing to the destination volume.  The changes I made cause PM to use 'ditto' (an Apple-supplied utility for copying files) to copy files.  In my testing, the speed matches that of the Finder.  I'm not sure we could do much better.

Card: Sandisk Extreme IV 45MB/sec 8GB
Reader : Lexar Professional CF reader (fw800)

Thanks for reporting back.  That speed is certainly acceptable.  Please continue to test and let me know if you ever experience the extremely slow transfer rate again.

Beta 2 ingested the same files with IPTC and renaming turned on in 40 sec.

Finder did it in 32 sec.

Thanks for reporting back.  Sounds like an improvement.  The speed of Ingest improves even more as the number of files increases, and especially increases when the files are very large (5D Mark II movie files especially.)

Let me know if you get a case where things get really slow.  I'll make a logging version that will tell us if the slowness is in reading from the card or is in the writing to the destination drive.  I still think this is a bug in Snow Leopard that Apple will have to fix, but if we can find a workaround then that would be great as well.
