Cannot Open Contact Sheets

Hi All,

I  work on a Mac [G5, dual 2.5 Ghz PowerPC], with 4.5 GB SDRAM, and a number of hard drives.  In addition to PhotoMechanic 4.6.2 [installed yesterday], I also use Capture NX2 and Adobe CS4.  I shoot with a Nikon D2X (and only very occasionally – but not very recently – with a Nikon D70) [this weekend, I will be using both cameras, and shoot two or three thousand images - mostly with the D2x  --   maybe a few hundred with the D70] , in both RAW (NEF) and JPEG (highest).

In my past use of PhotoMechanic [4.6.1, and earlier], after downloading and ingesting the images from the flash cards, and in order to rename the images and embed the metadata into the images, I would open a new contact sheet [Apple “O”] through the resulting dialog window.  After locating the folder(s) containing the images I needed to work on, I “opened” the folders and was able to then work on the images making up the contact sheet(s).

This morning, as I try to proceed as outlined above, PhotoMechanic [4.6.2] is not at all cooperative.  After trying to open a new contact sheet [Apple “O”],

••••  Sometimes I get a blank contact sheet, telling me to drag and drop the necessary folder onto the blank contact sheet, or

••••  Sometimes nothing happens (at least from all appearances)  --  however, in this instance, PhotoMechanic “locks up”, and I have to “quit” using “force quit” --  in this instance, most of the various operations under the various menu-bar drop-downs are “grayed out”.

      Please help.

I am on my way out to undertake another shoot on a continuing project, and will not return until about 6:00 PM [EST].  I will check back in at that time.

Thanks very much

Shammy

Try turning off the "Run Navigation Services dialogs in a separate process" check box in the Accessibility tab of the Photo Mechanic Preferences dialog.

Hi Kirk,

Just a thank you for the prompt answer.

You are just amazing, and magic too.  Would you be offended if we all just call you "The Magic Man"?

What a "find" this PhotoMechanic is  --  along with Dennis   and Kirk   and Bob  and Jerry  and Bill  and Katie  and Jamie  --  and all the others at Camera Bits.  I hope no one minds if we occasionally just     :)  :D   "call you out"  :) :D.

Thanks again,

SHAMMY !!!
