Support Bulletin for VANOC Accredited Photographers Only
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:59:38 AM »
Camera Bits is pleased to be able to provide on-site support at the Main Press Center in Vancouver B.C. for the duration of the 2010 Olympic games (Feb. 12 - 28).  The ability for us to provide on-site support in no way suggests any kind of official link to VANOC or the IOC or any sort of endorsement from VANOC or the IOC regarding Camera Bits or its software Photo Mechanic.

If you would like some tips on configuring Photo Mechanic on your laptop, please stop by and we can help you fine tune your workflow. Regardless of your experience level using Photo Mechanic, you can be assured that we can teach you a new trick to make your workflow more efficient.  As always, Camera Bits can provide you with a Photo Mechanic demo code for the latest version to last you through the games.  We are also hoping to provide code replacement files of teams for sports that use jersey numbers to identify athletes (e.g. ice hockey), depending on the availability of team roster information. Please stop by for some bits *and* advice to ensure your use of Photo Mechanic is at peak performance during the games.

Camera Bits will also have copies of the latest (upcoming) 4.6.3 release of Photo Mechanic.  This update contains several improvements and bug fixes.  If you are using Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) then you should install Photo Mechanic version 4.6.3 because it has changes and a work-around for slow ingest problems due to an unresolved bug in Mac OS X 10.6.2.

If for some reason your laptop is broken or stolen and you need access to temporary computers to run Photo Mechanic to get your job done, please visit the Microsoft area to see if any of their speedy Lenovo laptops are available for guest use.  All of Microsoft's computers should have the latest version of Photo Mechanic installed along with other applications such as their Expression Media software, along with applications from Canon and Nikon, to help complete your photo workflow.

If you are a Mac user, we apologize that Photo Mechanic will not be available on guest machines from Apple as their computers will be setup as Aperture-only workstations.  However, Photo Mechanic works great on Windows including Windows 7 so it should be a snap to use any available Windows computer to get your job done.

We look forward to seeing you there in Vancouver!

Regards,

Dennis Walker
