Save for file size?
« on: February 17, 2010, 08:42:58 AM »
A lot of different sites I frequent allow me to post/upload images, but they are typically restrictive in pixels as well as weight.

Is there a way to save a JPG and have PM restrict the width to, say... 800px on the longest and 400k on the weight?

Hmmm... I must be missing something...

I know this screen well, however I don't see a way of telling PM that I want all the files selected to be under 400k.
The compression slider only takes into considerationt he first image.

If I have a selection of files, the compression is going to be different for each one. Images with more of one color will compress better than images with lots of different colors.

This is a long going argue between users and Kirk here in the forum. It has been requested by many times to let PM limit file size of all the images.
PM now checks the first image, calculates compression to fit file size to that value and applies it on all of the pictures. Kirk says it would slow town saving if the check would repeat on all files.

My (let's say) workaround is to find a setting well below the actually needed filesize that won't result in any larger files.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.
