FTP how to see sub folders within a site
« on: February 23, 2010, 05:55:49 AM »
Hi,
I'm a huge fan of FTP uploads direct from PM, but a new agency has two folders within my access, non exclusive and exclusive images.  Its really important that images go into the right folder obviously.
Unfortunately PM does not show me these 2 folders, so I have had to revert to Fetch for uploading to this agency. Can you help Kirk?  Anyone?

If I am understanding your query correctly you just need to set up two connections. For each you then need to put the path to the relevant folder in the Destination path field so for example "/nonexclusive" and "/exclusive"

The easiest ways to find this out is either by asking the agency or if you feel uncomfortable doing that by opening Fetch and then making a note of the names of the actual folder including any folder it is a sub folder of so for example if the folders you want to add to are directly visible then the Destination Path will be something like :

/nonexclusive

or

/exclusive

(without the quote marks)

However sometimes they are included in another folder so maybe :

/sport/daily/nonexclusive

Hopefully that makes sense at least when you try it. It is pretty much adding in the stages you go through to put the images in the correct folder once you have logged on to the agencies server.

Once you think you have it set up correctly I suggest you give the agency a call and ask if it is OK to run a test for each folder then call back a few minutes later to check and, if necessary, diagnose any problems.

Good luck.
