Edit IPTC in selected folders
« on: May 15, 2010, 11:20:44 PM »
My photos are stored in subfolders named after the date they are digitized.
I'd like to shift or cntrl select folders in the Navigator pane and edit the IPTC of the photos in the selected folders.
Have not discovered a way to do that. The only 'workaround' I found is open a folder (as contactsheet) and RMB add all other folders to that existing contact sheet. Shift-drag-drop (though it shows a
  • sign) does not work.

Am I overlooking a feature ?
TIA

Just open the parent folder of those folders from the Navigator by choosing 'Open folder and sub folders ...'

That will do it in one step.

I hesitate to try (am not sure what will happen)  ;)
As said, photos are stored as per date they are digitized... so in my folder \photos\ there are _many_ subfolders.
I'd like to open specific subfolders only.

The above ("'Open folder and sub folders ...'", though admittedly Photo Mechanic does load the images fast and should remain as an option as well,
may present users with thousands of photos to browse through.

Maybe it would a new feature (?) to be able to create a new scratch contactsheet and to drag and drop folders into it ?

Hi,

You can do this by rightclicking on the folders and click on the popup-menue: Open in same contactsheet.

Hope it helps.

Thanks. Yes, I know this feature.
The issue is that you need to do this action for each folder, i.e. it is impossible to ctrl (or shift) select a number of folders and then open in the same (scratch) contact sheet.

Example: if you wish to open 10-15 folders (out of a LOT) then you have to rmb add to same contact sheet 10-15 times.

Maybe something for the next release.

Yes, this would be a really good feature. Worth an upgrade.
