Closed: Zoomed preview is blank (black)

Strange thing is happening here, I have a (large, 6300x7874 px) jpg which, when I zoom in, gives me a black preview. The file opens fine in Photoshop and also the Preview application has no problems with it. Other jpg files of similar size have no problems, and also the unzoomed preview is displayed Ok. Just when I zoom in (any ratio), do I get a black display…

Is the issue only with this one specific image, or do all images fail to zoom?

Hi Kirk,

Ok, now things become weirder still… To upload the file I copied it to my desktop and renamed it. As a check I then opened the file in PM and zoomed-in. To my big surprise, the file now shows up correctly 

I checked the "original" and still a black preview. So I then thought, perhaps this is a caching problem and told PM to clear the cache after exit. And lo and behold: no more black zoomed-in image. So I guess the cache got corrupted somehow?

Anyway, no need to upload the image any more I guess

OK.  If an image didn't render at some point and it got cached that way, then you would indeed get the problem you described.
