Problem with PM 4.5.4
« on: July 09, 2011, 08:01:40 AM »
Hello!
I´m from Germany and my English is not very good, Sorry!!!
I have a big Problem with Photo Mechanic.
My Software is:

- Windows 7 (64bit) on my Notebook.
- Photo Mechanic Version 4.5.4 (64bit).
- Photoshop CS5 (64bit).

When i want to open for example 5 Pictures in Photoshop, i mark these pictures in Photo Mechanic, then i press CTRL E, then it will open Photoshop and run with the 5 Pictures.
In Photoshop i make some works (sharpen and so on) with the Photos and let Photoshop open, i don´t close photoshop.
Then i want more Pictures from Photo Mechanic in Photoshop open, i mark for example other 5 Photos and press CTRL E, but nothing runs, no Picture open in Photoshop.
What is the Problem? When i only mark one photo and press e, it will open in Photoshop, but mark more pictures and then pressing CTRL E, nothing runs.

I have asked it in a German Forum, but no one can help me.

I wish, someone can help me here. And Sorry for my bad English!!!

Best wishes

Nils

Your English is fantastic actually!

I'd guess that the problem is a bug in version 4.5.4 of Photo Mechanic, which we are no longer maintaining.  I suggest trying version 4.6.7 of Photo Mechanic and if that solves your issue, then you'll need to upgrade.

Otherwise, the only other workaround I can think of is to drag your selected photos onto the Photoshop icon in the Taskbar, wait for it to come forward, and then drop the images into the main Photoshop window.  It's a bit tedious but should work.

Hello Kirk!

Thank´s for your answer and for your compliment to my english  ;D
On my Desktop PC runs Win Vista and Photoshop CS2 with Photo Mechanic 4.5.4, the same PM version as on my notebook.
And what can i say, there are no problems on my Desktop PC, every time i can hit CTRL E and the photos opened in Photoshop.
And now i ask you, when i deinstall Photo Mechanic and then install new, it may be true that Photo Mechanic then run, or is it quiet unlikely?

If you were to run Photoshop CS2 on your notebook like you do on your desktop machine, the 4.5.4 version would probably work just fine.  Otherwise you will likely need to get version 4.6.7 for your notebook machine in order to use Photoshop CS5 without issue.

And now i ask you, when i deinstall Photo Mechanic and then install new, it may be true that Photo Mechanic then run, or is it quiet unlikely?

If what you mean by 'then install new' is that you would be installing 4.6.7, then yes, it should work fine with Photoshop CS5 and higher.

The drag and drop workaround I described earlier should still work fine with any version of Photoshop and Photo Mechanic.
