Closed: Unable to save large JPGs

When trying to save very large files (e.g., 25000x4000) as JPG, I get an error ("There were errors during the save as operation"). The file dimensions are within the JPG specs, and save fine as JPG in e.g. Photoshop.

Hope this can be fixed.

It is likely that PM is running out of memory trying to allocate the 400 megabyte (!!!) contiguous block of memory.  PM does not have techniques like Photoshop where it breaks larger operations into smaller operations.  This issue would be solved by either a major overhaul of our image processing routines (unlikely) or by making PM into a 64-bit application (more likely but not soon either.)

Hi Kirk,

Thanks for clarifying this. Guess I'll wait for the 64 bit version and use Phoshop for these types of files.

Note that even photoshop is unable to save bigger than 30,000 pixels in one dimension which is far less than the 65,535 max according to the jpg spec... Oh well.

Having this error message when resiszing through save as.

Can you tell me anything about the settings you used in the Save As dialog?  What build of PM 5 are you running?
