Ingesting making new folders
« on: August 03, 2011, 05:59:05 PM »
Is there any way to ingest new photos into an ongoing folder without it making a separate folder within the folder (numbered)?  Thank you.

Could you post a screen shot of your settings?  Use the 'Additional Options...' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

What setting do you mean exactly.  I've never done a screen shot but I guess I can learn how.

Just a screen grab of your Ingest dialog.  What OS are you running on?

Okay, this is embarrassing to admit but I don't know how to make a screen shot.  I downloaded an add-on for Firefox but it seems to only work on web pages.

To further describe my problem, every time I ingest new photos from the same card into the same folder, they are put into a folder named like this -- 20110801, 20110802.  If you could teach me how to make a screen grab of my ingest settings AND tell me how to fix this annoying problem, you will have made a girl very happy.

I'm using Firefox with Windows 7.

This should help:

Here it is.

OK.  Great!

Change the 'Copy Photos' popup menu to read:

'Into Folder with Name'

And into the text field that appears below the popup menu ('Folder Name:'), enter:

Michigan 2011

And lastly, in the upper right corner of the window, click on the 'Primary Destination...' button and choose the folder up one level from your current Michigan 2011 folder.  Then it will be your C:\Users\Lana\Pictures\ folder.

From now on, whenever you have a different event or location, just change the Folder Name text field to be the name of your event.

HTH,

-Kirk
