X3F File Format - Sigma DP2X
« on: August 06, 2011, 07:03:49 AM »
Hi Kirk,

Any chance this format will be supported soon?  When in PM, if I open a folder of these image files into a contact sheet, the contact sheet is blank.
At the moment, I cannot rename or keyword any of these images, as PM can't 'see' them.

Thanks and best regards,
-Tom

Unless Sigma has started putting JPEG previews inside their RAW files, we can't add support for them.  If you want to send us a sample file, click on my name to the left of this message, then click on the 'personal message' link.  I will respond with upload instructions.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hi Kirk,

Thanks for such a quick response - and on the weekend no less!
I just replied to your note and will await instructions for providing a sample file.

I notice the following:
- Mac Finder does not display a thumbnail image for .X3F files (without a 3rd-party plug-in).
Mac Finder WILL display a generic thumbnail (of no use - no image).

- Mac Preview cannot open .X3F files (even with the aforementioned plug-in installed).
- PM will not display .X3F files at all (not even a generic thumbnail).  Contact sheet is blank.

If I create a DNG from the .X3F file...
- Mac Finder does not display a thumbnail image for the DNG file (just a generic thumbnail with no image).
- Mac Preview cannot open any DNG file created from a .X3F file.
- PM seems to work fine with any DNG file created from a .X3F file.

Thanks again,
-Tom
