PM freezing
« on: December 30, 2011, 05:31:32 AM »
hello
I'm working with PM favoritly on a fast network drive.
But when PM is still open but not the activated window. Maybe because I'm working in CS-Photoshop.
When I then go back to the PM window it freezes for 5 to 30 seconds and I cannot click anything within the PM window.

Any idea why... or what can help out to avoid this.

Preferences: 512 RAM cache; 1000MB Disk cache
Windows 7 64-bit; 24GB RAM
8GB RAM-Disk
PM and the disk cache is running on the RAMdisk

Thanks for help
Manfred

When you resume PM it scans all contact sheets for new/changed/deleted files.  If you have a lot of files across the set of open contact sheets this can take some time, especially on a network drive which are (in general) optimized for large data transfers, not small ones like file information queries.

Does this slowdown occur on contact sheets opened on a local hard drive?

Its just a little bit better on local drives

Is it possible to limit the amount of open contactsheets ??

sometimes when I try to click on another folder it refuses an jumps back to the already selected one ??
only soloution then is to close PM and restart :(

You can close any unneeded contact sheets by clicking on the 'X' in the far right edge of the toolbar.
