Renaming
« on: June 27, 2012, 01:19:52 PM »
Renaming files (cmd+m) many a time an 'old' string appears in the input field. Especially if renaming is the first action after starting PM.
I created this 'old' string, but I deleted it from the snapshot list (RenameDialogSettings) long time ago.

MAC OS 10.7.4, PM 4.6.9

Oryk,

It sounds like PM is failing to save your preferences.  Are you perhaps terminating or doing a force quit on PM instead of letting it quit on its own?

Interestingly I have noticed this same behaviour sometimes too. Weird thing is though that it usually shows me the correct rename string, but every now and then an “old” one crops up.

I noticed old values in e.g., the save-as too sometimes, but those I can sort of explain by the use of snapshots; I guess when you save a snapshot, all fields are saved, even the invisible ones (e.g., rename string when renaming is deselected). When later you reselect "rename", the “old” string is shown again.

Perhaps this has something to do with the issue as described here too?

Snapshots do indeed fill in all the fields, including fields that are hidden.  So that could be what is happening here.  When you OK the dialog (make it go) all settings are recorded as well.  Later when you re-enable rename or some other feature that hides/shows a field or other setting you'll see previous values.

Kirk,

I let it quit on its own.

Sure.  It will be created again as needed.  At that point it should have your updated rename string.
