Photo Mechanic: Version 5 Release Candidate 2
« on: August 02, 2012, 11:29:20 AM »
Hello Everyone,

Photo Mechanic: Version 5 entered the Release Candidate phase last week.  It is no longer a beta version.  Testing has been going very well and we feel that this version is very solid and is safe for production work.

Changes since the first Release Candidate:

Cropping TIFF files now works correctly.
Deleting EXIF (and other) metadata now reflects the loss of the data immediately.
Color Class labels can no longer be left blank (they'll be reassigned their default labels).
The various custom cursors used while cropping or zooming should no longer flicker. (Mac)
Scaled down images in the Preview window (1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 zoom) should now look better. (Mac)
Watermarking: improved scaling on 'scale to fit' options for logo images, now scales logo rectangle to destination rectangle instead of to the square box defined by the shortest destination dimension.
Drag and drop allows both Command and Option keys to modify drag behavior. (Mac)
Improved speed of moving items to the Trash (runs on a background thread with a progress bar) and added an additional warning to the confirmation dialog regarding files on network volumes. (Mac)
Fixed an issue that would cause a crash while Printing if the text string being printed had zero length. (Mac)
Slow launch times due to speed issues with the Favorites should be a thing of the past.  Version 5 should now startup and Ingest faster than PM 4.6.x. (Windows)
Added a preference in the Launching tab that allows the user to choose whether or not the Navigator will show the path of newly opened Contact Sheets. (Windows, Mac already had this preference.)
Fixed issue that prevented sub-folders of Favorites from being renamed. (Windows)
Running a rename operation (or any other operation that brings up a progress dialog) from the Preview window will no longer put the Preview window behind the main window. (Windows)

Photo Mechanic: Version 5 is not currently for sale on our web store, but those of you who have been running the PM 5 version as a demo can now request another Demo Code which will work with the Release Candidate.

Request a Demo Code here.

Download the Release Candidates here:

Mac OS X (10.6.8, 10.7.x, and 10.8.x)
