Remove second character from string name for entire set of files
« on: November 01, 2012, 06:51:19 AM »
I have this string name: Culivia Julio Wedding _3DS8829.nef and I need to remove the second character, "u" in the string for all the images. Can you offer how to do this?

Thanks!

Doug

Hi Doug!

For the start select one or 2 images.
Open the images in a contact sheet, click the Edit-menu, "Find and Replace"
In the "Find" area enter Culivia
In the "Replace with" area enter Clivia
Deselect the IPTCdata
change "In" to "selected images"

Hit replace and check the result.
If this is OK select "All photos" and hit replace again.

That would be my way on a Mac.

Hi Sven-
thank you! One small setback- the contact sheet does not recognize the xmp files. Any way around this?

Doug,

thank you! One small setback- the contact sheet does not recognize the xmp files. Any way around this?

Are you saying you have XMP sidecar files that are showing up in your contact sheet as individual thumbnail items?  Or they don't show up until after you did the Find and Replace operation as Sven suggested?

Kirk- The xmp files don't show up in the contact sheet for me to do the find/replace. I do have the proxy setting checked off.

Doug, the .xmp files get renamed with the rename of the raw file, no need to select these separately.

Hope this answers your question,
