cpnx tiledata files and Nkn tmp files
« on: November 03, 2012, 02:41:22 AM »
I have PM installed on my C: drive and I use another drive called Data (E:) to store images. I also use Nikon Capture NX2 and PS 5.

On my Data (E:) drive I keep getting a load of Folders with name like cpnx_4612_tiledata which are completely empty but keep building up. They will soon take over the world!
I also have similar folders on the same drive with names like Nkn1ACD.tmp which I think are ICC color files for my Nikon D700?

Can anyone explain what is going on and can I get rid of them? Is there any way to stop them breeding?

Frank,

I have no idea which application is creating them, but Photo Mechanic doesn't create folders in its cache named like that.  I would guess that Capture NX2 or perhaps View NX is creating those folders.

ICC profiles usually end in .icc or .icm and your .tmp file sounds like a temporary file that is meant to be deleted after use.

Those are temporary files and cache files and faders created by Capture NX you can delete them if CNX is closed.

Newer versions of CNX do a better job of cleaning up after they are done, but aren't perfect.

You can also try clearing the cache in CNX's preferences.
