Bug: Strange blue shaded jpeg rendered in preview
« on: January 16, 2013, 02:35:52 PM »
Windows 7, PM V5, working with NEF files, editor Capture NX2

Reviewed an image and edited it with NX2. The embedded jpeg image displayed in the PM preview is showing strange blue shadings.
Only in the preview view, not in the contact sheet tiles nor in the contact sheet tiles zoom view.
SaveAs the JPEG from NX2 as explicit JPEG file yields the same result.
No blue shades are shown in other viewers like standard Windows preview or Paint.NET.
Switching color mode (key C or toolbar) doesn't resolve the issue.

What the heck is the problem?

See attached png for a screenshot from PM.
Also attached the jpeg that is showing that phenomenum.

My guess is that you need to go into the panels,  find and expand Highlights and Shadows and select "Off" to turn off "Show lost shadow detail"

You can toggle Highlights and Shadows with the keys "B" and "N".
Simply press "N" again to hide the completely black areas shown in blue.

After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

Thanks, I already assumed it to show lost shadows, but I didn't find the panes.

Instead I had searched the help for "shadow" - no hit.

I had searched the shortcut summary to find some key - no hit.

N and B is not in the key summary of online or pdf documentation.

Thanks a lot for helping me out.

The documentation that is available at this time is for PM 4.6.x, not PM 5.  New documentation is coming soon.
