Can no longer see the stars in browse mode
« on: February 08, 2013, 11:32:48 AM »
After a recent revision to Photo Mechanic I can no longer clearly see the star ratings on images in the browse mode. Is there a way to make the stars white?

No, there is not.  What colors have you set your color labels to?  Please post a screen shot.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Thanks, Kirk:

You and your colleagues are always responsive. And I really appreciate that.

When I'm working through a couple thousand images in a hurry, I want to see the star ratings in contact sheet mode without having to work hard to see them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the stars used to really stand out. Maybe they were white?

Here's a screenshot.

Now I'm wondering if my difficulty in seeing the stars is less the color contrast and more the size of the star.

Unless I am not understanding your problem I think it can be solved easily.

Go to Preferences/Contact Sheet and select a lighter colour for the Colour Class and 5-star ratings background.

I think changing the background color for the star rating is part of the solution but I too would prefer larger stars (and/or smaller dots).

The current look of it in the Preview Window seems fine to me but in the browser window it is harder to recognise the stars.

Check out the difference of the stars and dots in Browser (left) and Preview (right):

In the Browser Star is a bit smaller, the dot is a bit larger this causes easier to mistaken them.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

I noticed this too, for now I have changed the colours a bit to give more contrast, but I agree: if the stars and dots were the same as I the preview window, the would be better visible.

I had also noticed that problem...
