Weird Copy Issue

I decided to format my drive and do a fresh install of Mountain Lion.
Downloaded PM and fired it up.
When the photos are ingested, two things are supposed to happen. First, they are to be copied to a particular  folder on my main drive. Second: A secondary copy is backed up to a secondary drive.
This sounds simple enough but two things happened.
PM created a folder with the same name as my destination folder, then it wouldn't copy items to the secondary drive.
What I did was move all my original files to the folder PM created on my main drive and that resolved the first issue. After some yelling and head pounding , I decided to let PM create a folder on the secondary drive and just move things about.
Why does PM have to create a folder instead of just putting things where I tell it?

I would rather have seen the settings that were causing you a problem, but as it is now, your settings are specifically telling PM to create a folder with a name that is made from the following variables:

{yr4}{monthname3}{day0}

If you don't want PM to create a folder with a name then choose "directly into primary and secondary folder(s)" from the "Copy Photos:" popup menu.
