Changing from PC to Mac with Photo Mechanic

My apologies if this has been asked before.............

Just about to make a big change from PC to Mac for my working life (photographer/writer) and Photo Mechanic is something I can not do without.

I have PM set up just the way I want it on a Windows 7 PC - can I simply Export my Preferences from my PC and then Import that .PMX file into PM when I have loaded PM onto the new Mac gear - bearing in mind that I have lots of different keywords "sets" that I use and I really need to get them across as well.

Hi Henry,

If you export all your preferences on your windows machine, you can import them again on the Mac side and be almost where you started off. The only things that can't be exported are system specific things like paths etc. But the rest should be all there, including your keywords and preferences!

I hope Henry doesnt mind me tagging onto his thread but I too am about to go from PC to MBP, Do I have to purchase PM again or can I deactivate and re-activate?

You do not have to purchase PM again. Your license is cross-platform and will let you run on 3 computers.   But, if you are not going to use the PC anymore, we recommend that you do deactivate it so that it doesn't take up one of your slots.   Contact sales@camerabits.com and they can help you get it deactivated.
