Filestacking in thumbnails
« on: January 29, 2014, 05:29:18 AM »
Hello!

I've noted that you can stack raw and jpg under one thumbnail. However, if you want to have native raw, dng, jpg and maybe tiff stacked the result can be confusing since only two files get stacked but it's hard to predict which ones.

It would be an improvement if all files with the same name but different suffixes could be stacked together.

Interesting….
How about stacking similar groups of photos?
Apologies if this has already been dealt with elsewhere.

@mbbphoto: That's not the issue here. It's about stacking different formats of one picture.
You should open your own ticket.

Hi,
I think you can only stack a raw and a jpeg file. If you convert your raw file into a tiff, it is not possible to see them stacked.
This may be due to the fact that most people convert their files to a high quality jpeg only (and mantain their original raw).

@Luiz: Yeah, that's why I posted the above feature request...

Hi ttt,

In the past this has been requested before and I really would like to see this feature too. Kirk then explained that there is an Adobe patent that somehow prevents them from building this into PM.

My current solution/workaround is to have a special colour class to mark items as "input file". It is now easy for me to filter out all but the final result files in a contact sheet. Not ideal perhaps, but it does work well for me.

Actually it's an Apple patent.  We really don't want to raise the ire of Apple's crack legal team.
