Disappearing Tags
« on: February 05, 2014, 11:39:24 AM »
Don't know if there is a cure for this in preferences or if it is a bug. My usual work flow is to copy a disk onto my desktop, then attach my IPTC caption info, then select "view tagged" before I start to edit. About ten days ago, I started to have a problem where as soon as I attached the caption info, all the tags disappear from my selected frames. The tagged frames are still in the folder, but no longer with a tag attached. If I remove the disk and put it back into my camera, the tags are still visible in the viewer in back. This is making editing a nightmare! I have tried with three of my camera bodies, same problem, also tried with a disk from a friend's camera, same problem, so it does not seem to be in the camera. After this happened, I downloaded and installed an updated PM version, but it still is happening. Any ideas?

You're captioning on the files on your computer or on the camera card?  Are you using the IPTC Stationery Pad?  If so, are you telling the IPTC Stationery Pad to set/clear the tag (it's a newish feature)?

I add the caption on the computer using the IPTC Stationary Pad, not sure what you mean by the set/clear tag reference. I've been doing it this way with no problems for as long as I have been using PM, and it has been happening on both the earlier version I had been using forever as well as the newer version just installed.

There are new controls in the IPTC Stationery Pad that allow one to set a rating, tag, and color class.  Please check your settings in the IPTC Stationery Pad.

Where are the images stored / located when you are captioning these? Are you ingesting them first or are the images captioned while they are still on the memory-card?
After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

OK, so what else has changed about your system or your workflow?  If this problem only started recently but happens with an older version, I wouldn't expect it to be a bug in the software.
